After I drew all the illustrations projected onto the stage during Eric Church's Evangeline Vs The Machine Tour (see separate post below) I was asked to design the album cover for the soundtrack album, Evangeline Vs The Machine Comes Alive (available here). It grew into more than just the cover, as you can see! I drew a gatefold scene, inspired by the concert performance, revealed when the double album is opened up. Some of my illustrations from the concert were used on both sides of the inner sleeves, and the clock face I drew appears on the actual vinyl discs. It was a unique job for such a truly unique recording artist as Eric Church, and my thanks to director Reid Long for his creative input and to John Peets at Qprime Artist Management for his support.

A view of the gatefold, opened out to reveal my illustration of a scene from the concert. Note the camera operators are wearing masks and 'M' hazmat suits - as they actually did while filming the concert at The Pinnacle, Nashville, for the IMAX movie.

The front cover features the E/epsilon that represents Evangeline in her struggle against the Machine. Inside the circle, the rearview of the audience hints at the gatefold inside.

The back cover has the 'E' turned sideways to represent the Machine, Evangeline's adversary.

And finally another view of the album gatefold, opened flat. I moved Eric slightly right of center so the fold crease did not run through his body!
