Why use a storyboard?

The storyboard process:

How a storyboard saves you time, money and stress.

So you’ve got a script or a treatment. Great!  But video is a visual medium and a script, however compelling, is simply a page with printed words.  Now you have to turn the words into pictures.

That’s where your storyboard comes in.  The transition between the written word and the images on the screen.  With a storyboard, your concepts progress smoothly from words to pictures.

A storyboard sells your ideas:

Are you pitching to a prospective or existing client?  Are you in competition with other creatives?  Imagine this:  The “other guys” walk in with a great treatment.  You walk in with a great treatment… and a storyboard!  The odds are stacked way in your favor because the client can actually see how great your ideas will be. You win!

A storyboard tells your ideas:

You know what you want.  Now you need to get the crew to see what you see.  A storyboard shows your DP how you want to frame up the shot and lets the Gaffer and Best Boy see how you want to light it.  Planning a crane shot or a dolly shot?  The storyboard shows the crew exactly where and when.  Even the talent “get it” faster when they see the storyboard.

A storyboard saves you time and money

Even the best shoot is organized chaos!  A storyboard keeps you more organized and that means less chaos.  Scene setups and transitions go faster and more smoothly because everyone is humming along to your vision.  A storyboard will bring in your project on time and on budget.  Less stress, less pressure, more kudos!

I interpret your vision

With many years experience in London, New York and Nashville, I have worked with directors, producers and ad agency creative staff, listening and discussing their concepts and putting those ideas into storyboards for movies, commercials, industrials and music videos.  Now I can work with you, storyboarding your project; anything from a quickie TV spot to a theatrical movie.  I understand the need for speed and cost containment, and we can work on ways to stay within your budget.
